Ice

I took one step out the door today and fell flat on my butt. Ice. Ice everywhere. The entire path to the car was covered in ice. After waddling my way to the car... the entire driveway was covered in ice! And trying to stand on a slanted driveway covered in ice is no easy task, especially when you have to scrape ice off your car. That's when I fell a second time. I had to hold onto my car while I was scraping the ice or else I would have just slid down the driveway. It was very stressful and made me late to class this morning.

So in August our contract ends and we get to move! So exciting. Hopefully the next place will have covered parking so I don't have to scrape my car off every morning. And a dishwasher! Actually it has to have a dishwasher, that just became a requirement. Anyways, when we move we get to buy a couch! We have never gotten one before because there was no way to bring a full size couch down into the basement, so we have had to make do with the crappy 20 dollar loveseat we found on KSL. I want this couch. I want it sooooo bad. Please go on sale in August! Paleaase! It's perfect and I love it.

I know that its only January and I am getting a little ahead of myself... but look at that couch!

Skincare addict

So I'm turning into a skincare addict. I just want to have clear skin, is that too much to ask for? I have been researching for the past month and finally just purchased some new things that should be arriving in the mail this week! Yay!

I am most excited about starting to use this oil cleansing method. Rubbing my face in oil sounded horrifying to me at first. But your face gets clogged with its own sebum oil and like dissolves like, so cleaning your face with oil actually breaks down all the dirty oil in your face and helps clean your pores out. Who knew! So I've ordered some Castor oil and Jojoba oil and plan on buying some Extra Virgin Olive Oil as well. I will report back with my findings. So far I have read that people have been having awesome results. I have started using mineral oil after I wash and moisturize my face. It basically acts as a water barrier, not letting water in or out, which has kept my face nice and hydrated this winter.

I think my biggest problem is not drinking enough water. The few months before my wedding I drank probably 4-5 water bottles a day and my skin was flawless. I just need to be more dedicated!

Anyways, today I entered into my first 5k with Dallas' family. I don't think I know what I've gotten myself into. My main motivating factor is that I get a t-shirt. Not really... mostly it is to support Dallas... but deep down I am motivated by the t-shirt that I will get. It better be good!

Meatloaf

How can something sounds so disgusting but taste so delicious? Dallas and I made meatloaf for the first time last night. It was soooo good. And now we get leftovers all week. Score! Pretty much finding any recipe with ground beef and that tastes good is exciting to me. Cheap meat for cheap college students.

Good news, I think I have gotten control of my Oreo addiction. Yesterday I only had half a sleeve, and I stopped myself! Usually I eat half of them and Dallas has to tell me to save some for him. Leaps and bounds. Next is garlic bread. I will eat pretty much the whole loaf. Its so gooooood.

Dallas and I started going to the gym again. I always feel great whenever I leave the gym, but I somehow forget about that feeling every time I need to go to the gym. Also it is so COLD. All I really have to work out in are shorts, which makes going to the gym even less appealing. Hopefully we can keep it up while school starts. What I would give to own a treadmill and work out at home though! Some day :)

Happy New Year!

Christmas break is over and reality is back! It was amazing to spend two whole weeks at home. All we did was eat food, watch movies, and play Rook. I regret nothing. However, our kitty's trip was not as enjoyable. The car trip wasn't too bad. He basically just cuddled with whoever was in the passenger seat, which was adorable and fun. My cats from home were not too excited to see another cat though, and were extremely territorial. Our poor kitty was also too stupid to realize that he should probably just stay away from them. So all week he continued to try and play with them and followed them around and got in multiple cat fights. I think its safe to say he is happy to be home.

As long as he was being held he was a happy camper!
Dallas and his parents and my parents got me a DSLR camera for Christmas!! It is amazing. I have no idea what I am doing but I am excited to learn. My Dad, who is really into photography, took me on a little excursion the day after Christmas and we went around Old Shasta and took some shots and I learned some of the basics. Now Dallas and I will have to go do things so I can use it! I will only be able to take so many pictures of my cat at home.

Also, just got some new tires on my car last month and it is amazing how much more fun driving in snow is! I can actually break and accelerate on the snow! Life changing guys.

School starts next week! I am so not ready... BUT! I PASSED ALL MY CLASSES! I was flabbergasted when I saw my grades. I have absolutely no idea how I managed to pass calculus. But I did! And I don't have any more math classes! Except statistics... but that doesn't count. Anyways hopefully this next semester isn't as brutal as last. We will see!

California Here We Come!

Of course a snow storm comes on the night we decided to leave. Why weather!? WHY!? Luckily we just bought new tires that handle very well in the snow. So I get to drive at night, in the snow, with a wailing cat in the back who is going to sound like a dying cow. I think I am trying to imagine the absolute worse so that I won't be overwhelmed. Just set the bar super low so that I can be relieved when the trip goes well. Dallas did take the cat to pick me up at the airport once. And that was a two hour trip with no carrier, no nothin'. It'll be fine guys. I'm sure the cat won't throw up, or poop all over the carrier... or pee on my lap... Oh gosh, so many different awful situations. I will keep you all posted.

Yesterday was our first year anniversary! We left work a few hours early and got our tires realigned (romantic) and then went to a matinee showing of Skyfall then got all dressed up and went out to Outback. After dinner we came home and cleaned the house and got all packed up! It was a great day.

My handsome husband

Is it time to go home yet!? All I want to do is get the car and cat ready to go! I got the pretrip jitters. Merry Christmas everyone! I will let you all know how the trip went and will try to document it as much as possible!

The Semester is Over!

I am finally finished with the worst semester of my life! Did I pass Calculus 2? Probably not! But it's over for now guys. Until next summer, then I will complain some more about it. I'm not really sure why I thought I could take discrete mathematics and calculus 2 in the same semester... but I don't have to worry about it anymore! Yay! I feel severely sleep deprived. And then I decided to go to the midnight showing of the Hobbit last night and be even more sleep deprived!

In a couple of days we will be on our way to Redding. So excited to spend 2 weeks at home relaxing with my family. However the car trip should be interesting. We are taking our kitty home with us because we don't want to leave him alone for 2 weeks. I am pretty sure Oreo is going to destroy our poor innocent kitty who I am pretty sure doesn't even know how to hiss. But we bought him a carrier for the trip and I think he likes it! Probably because I filled it with catnip and kitty treats... I'm sure he will love being stuck in it for 12 hours...

We went to Long Beach for Thanksgiving last month and it was spectacular. My sister hosted the most beautiful dinner.

The pictures don't even do it justice. We also went to Disneyland! The first amusement park Dallas and I have been to together. It was magical. I can't wait until we go again in 2 years with my whole family and I can share the magic with my nieces and nephews. We are lame and didn't take many pictures but we do have this lovely one. As you can see my parents did not enjoy space mountain.

My Dad Rules

It's days like these that make me appreciate my Dad even more. I had a long day of classes and didn't leave campus until 9 o'clock at night and spent 7 hours studying for my calculus test tomorrow! I usually like to complain but then I just think of how hard my Dad works, and all the crazy hours he has worked in his lifetime and I realize I am being a big whimp! So buck up Kirsti. And thank you Dad for showing what its like to really work your butt off!

Side note. I came home for lunch and let the kitty outside. He dragged down a poor helpless little grasshopper and was whacking it around. After much debate I decided to rescue it from the kitty and tried to relocate it. It. Was. Terrifying. I don't understand how I was capable of sticking my hand in a cage of 20 crickets and grabbing one by the tail to feed to our lizards when I was 9. I could barely move the grasshopper that I trapped under a cup. It's little hairy legs were poking out the bottom and I got scared and dropped it once I got to the top of the stairs. Good enough! Poor grasshopper...

I love my Dad!
